Responsibilities:

  • Prepare patients for examinations and procedures by taking vital signs, medical histories, and updating charts
  • Assist healthcare providers during patient examinations, treatments, and minor procedures
  • Perform phlebotomy to collect blood samples accurately and safely
  • Manage and document patient information in electronic medical records (EMR) systems, particularly Epic
  • Administer injectable medications as directed by providers
  • Ensure cleanliness and sterilization of clinical areas and equipment
  • Provide excellent patient communication, ensuring comfort and understanding of procedures
  • Support administrative tasks such as appointment scheduling, patient check-in/out, and follow-up coordination
  • Comply with all healthcare regulations, safety protocols, and confidentiality standards

Required Skills:

  • Proven experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinical setting, with recent Epic EMR experience
  • Proficient in phlebotomy, with demonstrated ability to collect blood samples efficiently and safely
  • Strong understanding of clinical workflows, HIPAA regulations, and patient confidentiality
  • Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a healthcare team
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and basic clinical procedures
  • Capable of maintaining composure and professionalism in a busy environment

Nice to Have Skills:

  • Additional certifications such as CPR/BLS or Medical Assistant certification (CMA or RMA)
  • Experience with other EMR systems or electronic health records management
  • Familiarity with additional clinical skills such as injections or EKGs

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required; post-secondary medical assisting program or certification preferred
  • At least 1-2 years of hands-on experience as a Clinical Medical Assistant in a busy healthcare environment
  • Recent experience working with Epic EMR system is highly desirable

Other Requirements:

  • Schedule: Full-time, 8a-4p, with variations including Wednesday 8a-6p, Thursday and Friday 8a-3p
  • Must have recent EMR experience, specifically with Epic, and strong phlebotomy skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours and adapt to changing clinic needs
  • Must possess or obtain current CPR/BLS certification
  • Physical ability to stand for long periods and perform clinical tasks requiring manual dexterity
