NOW HIRING: COMMUNITY RESOURCE ADVOCATES IN YORKTOWN, VA!

Position: Community Resource Advocate

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Employment Type: Temp-to-Hire

The Lee Group is seeking compassionate and dedicated Community Resource Advocates to support one of our valued nonprofit partners in Yorktown, VA. This position plays a vital role in connecting individuals and families to resources that address immediate needs and support long-term stability.

The Community Resource Advocate serves as a trusted resource for individuals experiencing hardship by providing advocacy, referrals, and support services. The ideal candidate is empathetic, highly organized, and committed to helping others navigate community resources and social service systems. This is an on-site position and is not eligible for remote work.

Job Overview for Community Resource Advocates:

Community Resource Advocates work directly with individuals seeking assistance and support services. Through active listening, resource navigation, and advocacy, they help connect community members with programs designed to address basic needs and promote long-term self-sufficiency. This role requires excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced office environment.

Job Responsibilities of Community Resource Advocates:
  • Actively listen and respond with empathy to individuals experiencing vulnerability, crisis, or hardship.
  • Assess customer needs and determine eligibility for available programs, services, and community resources.
  • Advocate on behalf of customers to connect them with appropriate assistance and support services.
  • Complete intake forms, referral documentation, and other required records accurately and timely.
  • Maintain detailed customer records and enter information into designated databases and case management systems.
  • Manage multiple phone lines and transfer calls appropriately.
  • Coordinate with community partners and service providers to facilitate referrals and support.
  • Track customer interactions, case records, and required follow-up activities.
  • Maintain professional boundaries while delivering high-quality customer service.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications of Community Resource Advocates:
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Knowledge of and experience navigating human services, social service programs, or community resources.
  • Previous customer service experience required.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Typing speed of at least 35 words per minute.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and accurately document information.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting individuals experiencing financial hardship or life challenges.
  • Experience utilizing motivational interviewing techniques
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements of Community Resource Advocates:
  • Professional office environment.
  • Frequent interaction with the public by phone and in person.
  • Regular use of computers, databases, and office equipment.
  • Requires extended periods of sitting, typing, and phone communication.
  • Must be able to accurately and efficiently enter information into electronic systems.
  • Occasional standing, walking, bending, and light lifting may be required.
  • Must be able to adapt to changing priorities and service delivery needs.
