As a Seasonal Lifeguard with the City of Pharr, you will engage in responsible protective service work, ensuring the safe and enjoyable use of our aquatic center for all patrons. Your day will begin and end with opening and closing duties, setting the stage for a pristine swimming environment. You’ll be trained to perform water rescues and provide CPR or first aid treatment when needed, effectively supporting those in distress. Ensuring cleanliness and sanitation is paramount, as you'll maintain the swimming pool and surrounding areas while tactfully enforcing safety rules. Additionally, you will inspect facilities for hazards and promptly report any broken equipment to your supervisor.

Providing exceptional customer service in both English and Spanish, you’ll also have the rewarding opportunity to instruct Learn-to-Swim lessons, empowering community members with valuable skills. Attendance at all scheduled in-service trainings is required, ensuring you stay sharp and ready to perform related work as assigned.

To excel as a Seasonal Lifeguard with the City of Pharr, a combination of essential skills and certifications is required. Proficiency in both English and Spanish is crucial, enabling you to communicate effectively with a diverse range of patrons and enhance their experience at the aquatic center. You must also possess a valid Lifeguard, CPR, and First Aid certification, demonstrating your commitment to safety and preparedness in emergency situations. Strong observational skills and attention to detail are necessary for inspecting the aquatic facility for potential hazards and maintaining a clean environment. Additionally, interpersonal skills are vital; you’ll need to enforce pool and water safety rules tactfully while providing excellent customer service.
