Job SummaryThe Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct patient and family support and nursing care within their full scope of practice. Execute the nursing process to provide effective, evidence-base care including the assessment, development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of programs and services for patients, families, and the community. The responsibilities include observation data collection, planning, implementation and evaluation of the patients physical, psychological, emotional, educational, and spiritual needs as guided by an individualized and ongoing plan of care. The RN works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team. Communicates in a clear and respectful fashion with both patients and teammates with every encounter. Represent Cayuga Health with the highest level of customer service. Implement interventions for the attainment of care goals to reflect resourceful involvement of team members. Facilitate the linking of patients and families with other disciplines and services as needed. Demonstrate competence in the implementation of the technical skills required for the care of patients and families. Demonstrate initiative in remaining current on organizational policies, procedures, and standards. Act as a resource to others.Evaluation of care is reflective of the attainment of care goals. Demonstrate proficiency and compliance with established practices in clinical documentation. Demonstrates critical thinking skills by making appropriate clinical decisions, prioritizing both planned and unplanned events, and proactively addressing potential and actual problems.Recognizes and incorporates the value and relevance of research and evidence based practice in nursing.Be self-directed in assuming responsibilities within the team and care delivery system. Assist peers and team members in acquiring department specific knowledge, skills, and behaviors. Appropriately delegates to members of the care team and follows the delegation process including evaluation.Demonstrates leadership at the point of care, regardless of role or tenure through clinical decision making, advocacy, collaboration, and influence on patient outcomes, professional practice, and the work environment.Remain flexible in assisting patients, families, and teammates as needed and assume other appropriate responsibilities not noted above.
