Location: This position can be based out of one of the firm’s offices: Atlanta, Austin, Dallas, Denver, Nashville, Portland, Seattle or Washington, D.C. Overview: The Public Relations Manager serves as part of Holland & Knight's public relations team, providing support for firmwide external communications. The role develops and implements public relations strategies to raise the profile of the Firm and protect and enhance its reputation and brand. Reports To: Director of Public Relations. Key Responsibilities Oversee an integrated communications and public relations strategy seeking positive placements in a variety of media outlets to enhance the reputation and business development goals of the Firm and its attorneys. Develop a thorough understanding of the Firm’s industry/practice areas and communications needs. Develop and maintain strong relationships with the media. Field inquiries from outside media and coordinate with attorneys on responses and interviews. Work closely with industry/practice marketers and group leaders to develop and execute public relations plans that support business development goals. Proactively research, identify, pitch and secure media opportunities for attorneys. Research and draft attorney talking points for media interviews and assist with attorney media training when needed. Research and place attorney-authored articles in targeted journals and publications. Prepare, draft and edit certain awards submissions for the Firm, practice groups and attorneys. Draft, edit and distribute press releases for new lateral partner hires, awards, events, rankings, deals/cases and other topics as appropriate. Assist with firmwide crisis communications. Serve as a liaison and provide insight to the Firm’s outside public relations agency. Special projects and additional duties as assigned. Qualifications At least 5–7 years of experience in communications, public relations or marketing roles, preferably in a professional services environment or PR agency. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and project management skills; detail oriented. Ability to perform well under pressure in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment. Ability to work independently as well as with a team. Solid experience pitching stories to the media. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Bachelor’s degree required, with a major in communications, journalism or public relations preferred. Salary & Benefits Base Salary Range: District of Columbia: $146,000 – $219,000 per year Washington: $134,000 – $201,000 per year Colorado: $122,000 – $182,000 per year The base compensation may vary by location, experience and qualifications.
