Job Description

Quarry Worker

Rock of Ages, a Polycor Group company, is looking for hard-working, positive team players to fill General Quarry Worker positions at our Barre, VT location. This is a full-time outdoor job involving the extraction of granite from our quarry.
Responsibilities:
  • Operate various forms of drilling equipment.
  • Operate electric diamond wire saws to cut large blocks of granite from the open pit quarry.
  • Drilling holes with a pneumatic hammer drill in large granite blocks and then using wedges/shims to break the stone into rough stock blocks
  • Occasional use of a jackhammer to drill large holes for various purposes
  • Follow policies and procedures to ensure quality work.
  • Maintain a clean work area.
  • Work safely, according to guidelines and training, to prevent possible injuries to self and others.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
Requirements:
  • Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to use a tape measure and read a level.
  • Basic carpentry skills are an asset.
  • Willing to work overtime when required.
  • Hold a valid driver's license.
  • Comfortable working at heights.
  • Able to lift and/or move more than 50 pounds safely.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.
Training:

We offer training that will advance your knowledge, skills, and abilities within the industry. No experience necessary.
Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, climb ladders, balance, and stoop, kneel and crouch.
Working Conditions:
  • Employment status: Permanent / Full-time.
  • Monday to Friday, 7h00 a.m. to 3h30 p.m.
  • Salary rate $25,48/hours to $31,85/hours, depending on work experience.
