Position Overview:

As the Radiology Assistant at OrthoArkansas, you'll play a vital role in ensuring patients receive the imaging services they need in a timely and compassionate manner. From warmly greeting patients to expertly coordinating MRIs and CTs, this position supports a smooth and efficient patient experience. You'll collaborate with clinical and imaging teams to deliver exceptional care and service while ensuring accuracy in scheduling, documentation, and communication.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Patient Interaction
    1. Greet every patient with a warm and friendly smile.
    2. Manage check-ins and check-outs with accuracy and professionalism.
    3. Assist patients with dressing changes as needed.
    4. Help patients in and out of wheelchairs and ensure they are comfortable and informed.
  2. Scheduling & Coordination
    1. Coordinate and schedule MRIs, CTs, and follow-up appointments.
    2. Make Health Note calls and assist patients in completing their questionnaires.
    3. Contact patients with appointment confirmations and instructions.
    4. Notify referring physicians once appointments are scheduled.
  3. Insurance & Referrals
    1. Verify insurance authorizations for MRIs and CTs.
    2. Communicate with the pre-certification team to confirm coverage.
    3. Ensure referrals are on file as needed for appointments.
  4. Documentation & Administrative Support
    1. Collect and process copays and balance TOS money daily.
    2. Maintain accurate patient records and demographic data in the EMR.
    3. Transfer images to and from PACS.
    4. Provide patients with and assist them in completing necessary paperwork.
  5. Imaging Preparation & Assistance
    1. Prepare patients for imaging procedures by explaining the process and addressing concerns.
    2. Maintain a clean and organized imaging environment.
    3. Collaborate with the imaging team and clinical staff for seamless care coordination.
  6. Additional Duties
    1. Perform other related duties as assigned to support smooth clinic operations.
    2. Stay current with imaging techniques, safety protocols, and equipment use.

Qualifications:
  • Education & Experience:
    1. High school diploma or GED required.
    2. 6 to 12 months of experience in a healthcare or imaging environment preferred.
    3. Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology preferred.
  • Skills & Abilities:
    1. Excellent communication and customer service skills.
    2. Detail-oriented and able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting.
    3. Strong organizational skills with a compassionate and professional demeanor.
    4. Software Skills: 10-Key, word processing, typing.
